Reivers Dominate Top-Ranked Indian Hills

COUNCIL BLUFFS - NJCAA No. 4 Iowa Western Men's Soccer took down No. 1 Indian Hills 7-2 at the John and Harriet Wiebe Football & Soccer Complex.

The Reivers (15-0-2) came out of the gates firing in the first two minutes Angel Lopez scored just 1:28 into the match, then followed it up with a 2nd goal just 27 seconds later.

The Warriors (13-1-2) answered back in the 14th minute when Tyrique Bailey-Edwards' header was saved by Reiver Goalkeeper Francesco Tricarico but the deflection fell to the foot of Lucas Bauer who buried it in the top shelf.  Seydou Diop got the goal back 10 minutes later in the 25th minute, but Indian Hills again answered in the 31st minute to make it a 3-2 game at the break.

Angel Lopez got the scoring going again with the first two goals of the half, both within 30 seconds of each other to take the wind out of the sails of the top-ranked team.  The Reivers would add two more goals in the 56th and 66th minutes to win in convincing fashion.

IWCC outshot Indian Hills 13-7 on the night and didn't allow a shot in the entire second half of the match.

The Reivers will have one final regular season home match against Dodge City on Tuesday, October 29th.  They'll then face Indian Hills for a third time on Friday, Nov. 1st for the ICCAC Region 11 championship.  The two teams drew 3-3 in Ottumwa on October 13th.
