Reivers Come Back to Defeat Western Iowa Tech

COUNCIL BLUFFS - NJCAA No. 6 Iowa Western Men's Soccer came back from a 1-0 deficit to defeat ICCAC opponent Western Iowa Tech 2-1 at the John and Harriet Wiebe Football & Soccer Complex on Wednesday evening.  The Reivers (13-0-1), gave up an early goal to the Comets on a free kick just six minutes into the match.  WIT's (7-4-3) Matias Garcia Castilla fed a ball in from 25 yards out and after a scramble for the ball, Aran Hernandez Vivar poked it into the back of the net.

Iowa Western found the equalizer in the 39th minute when Caden Johnson's long throw-in was tipped off of the head of Tal Torgeman and Boubacar Simaakan buried it with a header of his own.

The 2nd half saw the home team dominate possession but the Comets goalkeeper Bradley Ironside kept the game tied until the 59th minute.  Iowa Western's Efraims Valutadatils served up a corner kick that fell to Takumi Kumakura who didn't hesitate to put the ball into the back of the net.  Goalkeeper Francesco Tricarico made a pair of diving saves to keep Western Iowa Tech off of the board for the remainder of the game.

Iowa Western kept their unbeaten streak alive and will have a big test on Sunday, October 13th as they take on NJCAA No. 1 Indian Hills in Ottumwa with the winner taking control of the conference standings.
