Former Reiver Makes National Debut

TORONTO - Former Iowa Western Men's Soccer Defender Moïse Bombito made his Canadian Men's National Team debut on Tuesday, June 27th, 2023.

The 23-year-old defender earned his first career start versus Guadalupe at BMO Field in the group stage of the CONCACAF Gold Cup, playing 64 minutes in a 2-2 draw. Bombito had been called up to the CMNT just 17 days prior for the CONCACAF Nations League Finals.

Bombito was a two-year starter for the Reivers, scoring four goals, and earning NJCAA First-Team All-American honors in 2021.  He also helped the team earn the program's second NJCAA National Championship that season.  Following IWCC, Bombito signed with the University of New Hampshire where he made all 16 starts for the Wildcats in the 2022 season and was the ECAC Defender of the Year.

Bombito was then drafted 3rd overall by the Colorado Rapids in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft, becoming the highest former NJCAA player to be selected in the history of the MLS.
