Monday Recap and Preview (10/4-10/10)
This past week the Reiver men's soccer team played against two ICCAC Division I opponents. On Wednesday the 29th of September the team traveled to Fort Dodge Iowa to face off against the Iowa Central Tritons. The match started off in favor of the Reivers as they opponed the scoring in the 5th minute of the game thanks to a goal by Jesus De Vicente, with an assist provided by Merdi Nkiliko. It stayed that way for almost 30 minutes until Ibrahim Conde scored his first of the game an cross from Alex Ramos which would be his first of the day. 4 minutes later Luka Nedic got his first goal of the season off a corner rebound. One minute later Conde and Ramos connected again for a goal in the 39th minute. Then another minute later Ramos found Evan Southern for his goal to round off the first half with the Reivers leading 5-0. In the second half Jiwoo Lee got his first of the game a minute off into the first half off a rebound from a coner kick. Then 11 minutes later Lee scored again in the same exact way. Our last goal came in the 62nd minute when Edoardo Deglinnocenti scored from Ramos is 4th and final assist of the game. Yuta Ishizuka was again in goal for this game and helped keep yet another clean sheet with only having to make two saves.
On Saturday October 2nd the #2 Reivers hosted the #4 Iowa Lakes Lakers at the Reiver Sports Complex for a top 4 matchup. In a heated contest the game ended 1-1 after 2 OT periods. Going down early in the game 1-0 the Reivers were able to find the equalizer to in the 79th minute Ivan Callado scored to tie the game. The game would go into two tight overtime periods but neither team could find the golden goal to end the game. This next week the Reivers have a game on Thursday then a quick turnaround for a Saturday match up. On Thursday the Reivers host Scott CC as a make up game from the September 11th game being rescheduled. Game is to be started at 3pm. On Saturday the 9th the Reivers will host the Marshalltown Tigers for a contest after the Reivers won the first game 3-1. The Reivers will be hoping for a similar match and should be a Top 25 match up by the time the new rankings come out.
