Monday Recap and Preview (10/18-10/24)
This past week the Reiver men's soccer team had two big games. On Wednesday October 13th they faced off against the Indian Hills Warriors in a game that had to get moved to Lewis Central High School due to potential weather. In a rare night game the Reivers were able to come form being down 1-0 to win the game 4-1. The Warriors scored early in the first half, but the Reivers were able to find the equalizer Wawa Palga who scored in the 20th minute of the game off an assist from Ibrahim Conde. That meant going into halftime the score was 1-1. Then in the 57th minute Junior Casillas provided a potential goal of the season by scoring a bicycle kick goal in the 57th minute from as assist by Alvaro Jacinto. Then in the 79th minute Maruki Kawahara was able to make it 3-1 and getting Conde another assist. Finally Conde was able to get a goal in the 81st minute to end the game and make it 4-1 Jiwoo Lee the assist. Haakon Utesch had the start in goal and other than the goal they scored he had very little to do.
Then on Saturday October 16th, the Reivers traveled to face off against the number 3 ranked Iowa Lakes Lakers. In a tense game the scoring started when Jiwoo Lee scored the first goal of the game 5 minutes into the game off an assist fron Gonzalo Cuevas. Then in the 10th minute it became 2-0 when Maruki Kawahara scoreed off an assist from Ibrahim Conde. We went into half time with the score 2-0. In tense game and no real shots coming Conde put the game to bed in the 89th minute to end the game at 3-0.
This week the Reiver only have one game and it will be Tuesday against the Iowa Central Tritons. If they win the game then the Conference title will belong to the Reivers for another season.
