Monday Recap and Preview (8/30-9/5)

We have officially kicked off the 2021 Fall Season this past weekend with two exciting games on the Iowa Western Community College Campus. Our Iowa Western Men's Soccer team hosted the Reiver Invitational this past weekend that included a total of four teams including the Reivers. Coming to Council Bluffs this past weekend were the #3 ranked team in the nation and conference opponent Iowa Lakes, #11 in the nation Barton CC and rouding out the teams were the Vikings out of Jefferson College. 

The Iowa Western Men's Soccer team beat Jefferson College 3-0 on Friday August 27th by way of a hat trick performance from our #10 Evan Southern. Arata Saegusa provided 2 assists to Southern for his hat trick. Our Reivers out shot Jefferson College 10-3, and had more corner kicks throught the game 6-0. On Saturday August 28th, yes the next day we had a top 15 matchup on our hands by they way of #2 Iowa Western vs #11 Barton CC. In a physical match the Reivers found a way to win by goals being scored by Ibrahim Conde in the first half assisted by Edoardo Deglinnocenti. Later in the match wth it still being 1-0 Deglinnocenti stood over a ball on a free kick and sloted it home past the keeper to make it a 2-0 game and the Reivers men's soccer team went home with zero goals against in two games in two days. Yuta Ishizuka had a great two games to help keep his goals agaistn average to 0.00

This upcoming week the Reivers men's soccer team will open ICCAC play against done Division II opponents. On Wednesday September 1st, both women and men's soccer teams are traveling to Norfolk, NE to face off against Northeast CC. The Hawks are currently 1-4 on the men's side. In the season but will be looking to cause an upset against the Reivers. Game time is set to 3:00 pm Central Time. On Saturday September 4th the Reivers will welcome Scott CC to the Reiver Sports Complex for a game set to kickoff at 3:00pm. The Scott Eagles are currently 0-3 and will be looking for anything they can find during this game. 

Iowa Western Men's Soccer is looking forward to getting back into routing this next week with a Wednesday Saturday game schedule format. We hope to see you guys at the Reiver Sports Complex this season!
