Council Bluffs, IA – Reivers defeat Marshalltown to advance to the Region XI championship
Reivers defeat Marshalltown to advance to the Region XI championship on Saturday. For the second straight week, the Reivers took an early lead versus Marshalltown; this time off of a Leandro Avila goal in the 11th minute. The Reivers would hold onto the one goal lead for the rest of the match thanks to a finger-tip save by Jan Hoffelner.
The Reivers advance to the Region XI championship match versus Indian Hills which will be held on November 4th, 1 pm, at the James W Cownie Soccer Park in Des Moines. This is the first time that both teams will meet in the finals. During the regular season, Indian Hills defeated the Reivers 2-1 in overtime, handing them their only loss in ICCAC play. The Reivers are heading into the championship match with eight consecutive shutout victories and will look to avenge their loss during the regular season.
