Council Bluffs, IA – Joao Burti nets back-to-back hat-tricks

In the space of four days, sophomore forward Joao Burti has scored six goals. Burti scored the game-winning goal versus Dakota County Technical College in a 7-0 victory and the game-winning goal versus Barton Community College in a 5-0 victory. Sophomore defender Joseph Connolly also had a hat-trick of assists versus Dakota County Technical College and the game-winning assist versus Barton Community College. The Reivers defense led by Jan Hoffelner, Gustavo Fernandes, Vicente Gallardo, and Massimo Baron has shut out their opponent in three consecutive matches. The Reivers are 6-2-1 overall and 4-1-0 in the ICCAC.

The game versus Barton Community College marked the first time that Coach Carver and former Reiver assistant coach and Barton CC head coach Mike Brown have faced each other. The coaching staff of Barton Community College includes two other former Reiver student-athletes, Matthieu Braem and Humberto Estrada. Braem played from 2013 to 2014 and Estrada played in 2012. In 2013 both Brown and Braem helped the Reivers win the Reivers' first National Championship.

Up next for the Reivers is an ICCAC match up versus Hawkeye Community College (5-5-0, 1-4-0). The game will be played at the Cedar Valley Soccer Club's Soccer Complex located at 3238 DeWitt Rd.
