Reivers Capture First District Title in Program History

The Reiver men rallied from 2 strokes behind in the final round to catch defending national champions Hutchinson CC in the Central District Championship hosted at Lochland CC in Hastings, NE. The win marks the first time in men's program history that they have won the district championship.

The championship opened with a 36-hole day on Monday, April 25th. After a 1st round 301 (+13), the Reivers rallied in the afternoon round with a 290 (+2). This would place the Reivers in 3rd, only 2 shots behind Hutchinson CC going into Tuesdays final 18-holes. A clutch final round 291 (+3), highlighted by the low round of the day from Jason Kolbas (-2, 70), helped secure the 1st district championship in program history by 7 strokes.

The Reivers were again led by sophomore Thomas Craig. Craig opened with -1 total of 143. That was good enough for a share of the individual lead. A final round 76 (+4) secured a tie for 3rd and Central District All-Tournament Team honors. "Could not be more proud of the total team effort it took to get the win" Assistant Coach Derrick Ceder said. "When it's a 2-day, 54-hole event, you just have to stay so patient. It's a marathon and playing solid golf for the longest stretches of holes is how you win. Its not about going low from start to finish and the guys just kept playing their game" Coach Ceder said.

Next up for the Reivers: NJCAA Division 1 Men's Golf National Championships in Odessa, TX.
