2021 INDOOR NATIONAL CHAMPIONS

The 2021 Women's Indoor Track & Field team made history, bringing home the program's first track & field national championship. 

The competition was close from the start. Iowa Western totaled 35 team points after the first day, leading South Plains (TX) by five points to start the second day of competition. The battle for the title was neck-and-neck throughout the day with the Texans trailing by just four points heading into the final event: the 4x400-meter relay. Iowa Western clinched the title by winning the event with a time of 3:44.75.

Iowa Western had six first-place individual finishes in the 400-meter dash, 4x400-meter relay, and high jump. Sophomore Faith Linga Chepengat earned 30 points on her own by winning the mile, 3000m, and 5000m. The Reivers also claimed three second-place finishes in the 60-meter hurdles,  200-meter dash, and 4000-meter medley.

2022 INDOOR NATIONAL CHAMPIONS

After claiming its first-ever championship just one year ago, Iowa Western returned as the 2022 NJCAA Indoor Track & Field champions. The Reivers dominated the competition from start to finish, posting 160 points, the only team to break 100 in the competition.

The women posted an impressive 58 points on the first day of the championship and kept the pedal on the medal heading into day two. The exciting day was concluded with a championship title in the exciting 4x400.

Iowa Western had seven first-place finishes overall in the 400-meter dash, the one-mile run, the high-jump, the 3000-meter run, the pentathlon, the 5000-meter run and capped it off with a first-place finish in the 4x400 relay.

Key contributors included Hilda Chebet who took first in the one-mile run, 3000-meter run, and 5000-meter run, gaining 30 points for the Reivers. Mercy Biwott earned second in the 3000-meter run, Nickisha Pryce placed second in the 400-meter dash, and Antonio Sealy took second in the lengthy pentathlon.

2022 OUTDOOR NATIONAL CHAMPIONS

After three days of the NJCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Iowa Western Women's Track & Field finished at the top of the standings, winning the program's first outdoor national championship.

The Reivers accumulated 117 team points, defeating New Mexico Junior College by 19 to complete the sweep of the national indoor and outdoor team titles.  

Hilda Chebet led the way for Iowa Western, winning national championships in the 10k, 5k, and 1500m.  The Reivers would finish 1-2 in the long jump with Miracle Ailes earning the top spot and Alliyah McNeil finishing second.  McNeil would add the title in the high jump to give her 18 points for the tournament.

Antonia Sealy was victorious in the heptathlon, earning first-place finishes in the shot put, long jump, and javelin. Victory George would round out the national titles on the women's side, needing just one mark of 12.86m in the triple jump to come out on top.

Iowa Western scored in 16 of the 22 events to help claim the program's first outdoor national title.

Men's Track & Field earned their first outdoor trophy, finishing as the national runners-up with 85 team points.  Cortney Watkins took gold in the 110m hurdles and Shakiel Dacres finished at the top of the men's discus, with a school-record throw of 54.77m.

Iowa Western scored in 14 of the 22 events, including a third-place finish for Christian Turner in the shot put, setting a school record with a mark of 17.04m.

Iowa Western was the only school in the tournament with a top-three finish for both the men and the women.  South Plains and Barton finished in the top five on both sides.

The Reivers finished the 2021-22 season as the women's indoor and outdoor champions, runner-up for men's outdoor, and third-place for men's indoor.  The program added 17 individual national champions and 29 NJCAA All-Americans.

Hilda Chebet finished with six individual titles, Antonia Sealy won gold in both the indoor pentathlon and outdoor heptathlon, and Victory George swept both the indoor and outdoor triple jump titles.

2024 INDOOR NATIONAL CHAMPIONS

Iowa Western again reached the pinnacle of junior college track & field, bringing home their 3rd indoor championship in four years.

The Reivers and Barton Community College both ended the 2024 NJCAA Indoor Championships with 106 points to take home a national championship.  The meet would come down to the final event of the weekend, the 4x400m relay.  With Iowa Western needing to win the event to tie the Cougars at the top, the squad of Glory Okon, Ethel Amissah, Kaylia Kelly, and Angeline Pondler Estrada sped around the track at 3:41.93 to win the event, providing the team with the necessary 10 points, clinching a tie for the team title.

The Reivers added individual titles from Amissah in the 400m dash and Mercy Honesty in the triple jump; 28 Reivers ended the weekend as USTFCCCA All-Americans.
