Iowa Western took a pair from Northeast CC on Tuesday, winning 7-6 and 19-2, improving to 7-1 on the season.
Game One
After jumping out to a 7-1 lead into the sixth inning, the Hawks rallied for four runs in the bottom of the sixth and another in the seventh. With runners on second a third, and 5-3-2 double play ended the game with Camryn Milley throwing the tying run out at the plate after trying to advance on the Fiedler's Choice from the third basemen. Emily Brouse got the win in the circle, going five innings before giving way to Libby Walls. Amayia Hernandez and Olivia Valdez drove in three apiece for the Reivers, Valdez had three hits including two doubles, Hernandez had two hits with one being a homerun to center. Milley also had two hits.
Game Two
Appearing to learn their lesson from game one, IWCC hung up 19 in the second half of the double header. Ava Knoll picked up the win with four innings of shut out work, striking out seven. Offensively, Jael Wilde was the only Reiver with multiple hits, pounding out three including a double and a grand slam while driving in six runs. Karis Gifford also drove in four runs of her own with a grand slam. Olivia Valdez drove in three runs on the game and Olivia Kyes doubled. Gifford and Amayia Hernandez scored three times each for Iowa Western.
