Cedar Rapids, IA – The Reivers split a double header with #5 ranked NJCAA Division II Kirkwood Community College on Tuesday. The home team won the first game 9-1 in six innings and Iowa Western responded with an 11-3 win in five innings in the nightcap.
In the first game, IWCC only mustered two hits offensively and only scratched out one run. However, in the second game, the Reivers hung up four runs in the first inning, capped by a Madysen Kim three run double. In the fifth inning, Iowa Western would score seven runs, highlighted by RBI singles from Alyssa Maldonado, Cassiddy Beeby, and Tyla Lee. Michaela Epp kept Kirkwood scoreless through four innings before surrendering three runs in the fifth.
The Reivers improved to 26-16 on the season and sits in the lead of the ICCAC standings at 5-1.
