Guillermo Laguna

Guillermo Laguna enters his second season with the Reiver Men's Soccer team in 2023-2024. 

This last fall Coach Laguna was able to help the Iowa Western Men's Soccer team return to the National Tournament. The Reivers won the first game against Eastern Oklahoma State College 4-2 before falling to Salt Lake CC 2-0 the following day.

Coach Laguna comes to Council Bluffs from Lamoni, Iowa where he served as an Assistant Coach for the Men’s program at Graceland University.

Before his time as a coach, Laguna played for Graceland from 2017-2020. He was a team captain for the men's soccer program during his junior and senior seasons, he was a Daktronics Scholar-Athlete in 2019 and 2020. 

Following his playing career at Graceland University, Laguna joined the men's soccer coaching staff as an Assistant Coach. 

As Assistant Coach, Laguna's primary roles were recruiting coordinator, JV Head Coach, and coordinating team travel logistics. He also assisted the rest of the coaching staff in the program's day-to-day operations. Laguna graduated with a degree in Sport Management and Communication from Graceland University. Upon completing his first year as a collegiate coach, he also obtained his USSF C License and his Master’s in Sport Management through the Johan Cruyff Institute and the University of Barcelona.

Coach Laguna had this to say about joining the men's soccer coaching staff "I'm very excited to be a part of this prestigious program, which has a long-standing history of success. I hope to make a positive impact and immediately contribute to keeping this program at the high-level Coach Mike Brown and his staff have established in recent years. I also want to express my gratitude to the coaching staff for giving me the chance to take part in such a unique opportunity."

Coach Laguna will serve and assist with the daily operations of the first team along with the rest of the Reivers’ coaching staff.

Coach Laguna now resides in Council Bluffs.
