The Reiver men made their 14th trip to the NJCAA Division 1 Men's Golf Tournament May 10th-13th. It was an up-and-down week that ultimately ended in a 13th place finish with a team score of 1179 (+27) for the 4-round tournament held at Odessa Country Club in Odessa, TX.
After an opening round 298 in tough conditions kept The Reivers in the hunt, it was a round 2 score of 308 that ended the hopes of bringing home some hardware. Finishing in strong form, The Reivers fought back with a 3-under total of 573 (287-286) over the final 2 days of the event.
Individually, Gustav Sjoberg set the pace with a 4-round total of 293 (+5). Good enough for a tie for 32nd. Thomas Craig and Jason Kolbas both tied for 53rd with a total of 298 (+10).
"Unfortunately, we shot ourselves out of the tournament in the first 2 rounds. But we talked about finishing the year with some pride. We reset our goals going into the final 2 days and did a good job of avoiding the little mistakes that cost us in rounds 1 & 2," Assistant Coach Derrick Ceder said. "Overall, it was a really good season with a good group of guys! To win 5 events including winning the first ever District Championship is an accomplishment they'll never be able to take away from us!"
