Reiver Men's Golf Finishes 4th at Season Opening Lindenwood Invitational

The Reiver men knocked off some competitve rust with a 4th place finish at the Lindenwood Invitational at Missouri Bluffs Golf Club on March 21st and 22nd. After getting off to a good start in round 1, the Reivers fell off the pace in the afternoon round on the 36-hole opening day. In the morning round, Thomas Craig fired a tournament leading 67 (-4) to help lead the Reivers to a one shot lead going into the afternoon round. Jason Kolbas opened up with a 73 (+2) and Marcus Eriksen shot a 75 (+4). Our team score of 293 for round 1 was capped off by a 78 (+7) from Graedon Woodward

The afternoon round was when our competitive rust started to show. The Reivers fell into a tie for 4th place as a team with a 302. In the final round, we were greeted with some true spring golf conditions; cold, wet and windy! We finised off the tournament with a team score of 301 which gave us a 3 round total of 896. Good enough for 4th place overall and 12 shots back of eventual champion, Missouri S & T.

Thomas Craig grabbed a top 10 finish indivudally finishing at +9, 222 (T8th) for the tournament. Sophomore Gustav Sjoberg also found himself in the top 15. He finished at +12, 225 (T15th). "Mostly, we just need to get back into the swing of competitive golf. Coming from practicing at courses still in winter conditions, this event was a bit of a shock to the system. The greens were quick and very undulated. Making putts that count for real after a 5 month break was our biggest issue this week." Said Assistant Coach Derrick Ceder. "In the end, the guys need to cut themselves some slack. I have no doubt more putts will drop as we get back into competitive mode!"
