REIVERS RETURN TO WINNING WAYS

REIVERS RETURN TO WINNING WAYS

The Reiver men put together their most complete performance of the fall to take the Northwest Iowa Collegiate Showcase by 23 shots. The 54-hole event was played over two days at Spencer Golf and Country Club. After finishing even par, 288 during a chilly morning round on Monday, the Reivers took a 5 shot lead into the afternoon round! As the weather warmed up, so did the Reivers. In the 2nd round, we fired a 280 (-8) to build on our lead. We were led by sophomore Thomas Craig who shot a 2-round total of 136 (-6). That total was good enough for a 3 shot lead individually heading into Tuesday's final round.

In the final round, we were once again led by the efforts of Thomas Craig. A -6, 66 helped us to a team score of 276 (-12) and took us to 20 under par for the event! His 3 rounds of 69-69-66 (-12) gave Thomas a 6 shot victory individually. After opening with a 74(+2), Gus Sjoberg finished with a pair of 68s to take 2nd behind Craig at 6 under par. In total, all 7 players competing for the Reivers finished inside the top 14.

"We played well overall. Very pleased with how patient the guys played. A 36-hole day is a marathon and, you have to stay even-keeled mentally all day. To come back with an even better score in the afternoon showed that they were in the right mindset." Said Assistant Coach Derrick Ceder. "Even though we had the lead after 2 rounds, we felt like we left some shots out there. We all just had a feeling a low round was coming so it felt great to prove it with a 276."
