Reiver Men's Golf Pick Up a Big First Win of the Season

Reivers used patience in a final round comeback to catch a very good Indian Hills CC team at the Blue River Classic hosted by Doane University/Concordia University! After an opening round 281 (-7) and a pair of 67s by Gustav Sjoeberg and Jason Kolbas', the Reivers found themselves 5 shots back of first round leader Indian Hills. A final round 281 (-3) was the best team score of the day by 9 shots and was good enough for a 4-shot victory.

Freshman Kolbas lead the way with a solo 3rd place finish at 6 under par (67-70). Sophomore Sjoberg wasn't far behind with a solo 4th place finish at 5 under par (67-71). All 5 Reiver men finished inside the top 16 individually. A very complete team effort to kickoff our 2021-22 campaign!

"I am very proud of the patience shown by our guys. I'm big on patience in a 36-hole event and to chase down a very good team who had a 5 shot lead is a testament to that. We got off to a slow start in the final round but, nobody started pressing or forcing the issue, said Assistant Coach Derrick Ceder. "Jason was very impressive in his first college event. He's been in the heat of battle in big junior events before and he didn't blink with a chance to win. Very excited for his future with us!"

The Iowa Western "B" team was lead by Freshman Jacob Hellman. He finished the tournament at +5, 149. The Reivers are back in action next week at the SiouxLand Invite on September 13th & 14th.
