2010 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS

The 2010 Iowa Western baseball team made history becoming the first team from the Northern District to win the JUCO World Series. The Reivers defeated Crowder (Mo.) 12-0 in their opening game but lost to the future #1 pick in the MLB Draft, Bryce Harper, and Southern Nevada 12-7 in game two.  The Reivers bounced back to beat Crowder again, 13-3, and edged out Southern Nevada 9-8, taking the game four re-match.

That set up a matchup with San Jacinto-North (Tex.) where the Reivers needed to win two vs the Gators. IWCC won the first game 10-4 and then in game two led 3-0 after the first inning.  San Jac plated a run in the top of the 2nd inning and then scratched three across in the third to lead 4-3.

Both teams remained scoreless until the bottom of the 8th when the Reivers plated two runs on two hits and a wild pitch to take a one-run lead into the ninth.  Tyler Eikenberry came in to close the door, striking out a pair to give Iowa Western the title.  IW finished the season with a record of 51-12.

Ivan Hartle was named the Tournament MVP.

2012 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS

The 2012 Iowa Western baseball team started the season 44-1 en route to a 62-6 record becoming just the sixth team to surpass 60 wins in a season since 1982.

After dropping game one of the JUCO World Series to San Jacinto-North (Tex.), Iowa Western rolled through the rest of the tournament defeating Spartanburg Methodist (S.C.), Western Nevada, Neosho County (Kan.), and Gordon State (Ga.) before facing San Jac again in the finals.

The Reivers led 4-3 through six innings but the Gators took the lead in the bottom of the 7th inning on a two-run single.  IW responded with a pair of their own at the top of the ninth on an RBI single by Brent Bass and a bases-loaded balk by San Jac.  Keaton Steele came into the bottom of the inning to close it out.  Steele struck out the first two batters but gave up a triple to the third batter.  A groundout ended the threat to give Iowa Western its second national championship in program history.

Steele was named the Tournament MVP.
