Baseball Off to Hot Start in Conference Play

Iowa Western Baseball opened up ICCAC Conference play on March 19th, taking a two-game series with DMACC, from there, the team has swept NIACC in three games, another pair against Iowa Central, and capped off a sweep of Ellsworth this past weekend with an extra-inning thriller that saw the Reivers squander a 10-4 lead.  Ellsworth trailed by six entering the bottom of the 5th but chipped away, scoring one in the 5th, one run in the 6th, two in each of the 7th and 8th innings and tied up the game at 11-all in the bottom of the 9th.

Iowa Western then plated 4 runs in the top of the 10th on a grand slam by Jaxon Sorenson.  The Reivers would give up a pair to the Panthers but held on for a 15-13 victory.  With the win, the team moved to 27-5 on the season and 10-0 in ICCAC play, outscoring their conference foes 111-40.

The Reivers are back in action on Wednesday versus Southwestern CC in Creston, IA.
