Reivers Go 4-0 in Centerville, Lockup #1 Seed for Region XI Tournament

Iowa Western handles business and clinches the Regular Season ICCAC Championship with a clean 4-0 weekend against Indian Hills.

Sophomore Indigo Diaz (Vancouver, BC, Can) gave up 1 hit in 5 innings of work to lead the Reivers to a 1-0 victory in Game 1 of the weekend.  Cole Albers (FR, Brookland Park, MN) and Keaton Winn (SO, Ollie, IA) combined for the final 2 innings to shut the door while Winn picked up his 4th Save of the season.  The Reivers lone run came in the top of the 1st when the Ronald Sweeny III (FR, Woodbury, MN), Ryan Sullivan (SO, Aurora, CO) and Kobe Hyland (SO, Spruce Grove, ALB, Can) went Back-to-Back-to-Back singles to put Iowa Western out in front.

The Reivers scored 3 runs in the top of the 7th for a comeback, 4-2 win in Game 2 of the series.  Iowa Western took the lead in the top of the 2nd on a John Hawk (SO, McClleland, IA) double that scored Breyden Eckhout (SO, Amherst, NE).  Eckhout, who went 2-3 with 2 runs scored, got the offense going in the top of the 7th with a lead-off single.  Hawk then wore a pitch before Cole Evans (SO, Columbia, MO) laced a ball at the Falcon third baseman that hit off his glove, scoring Eckhout and tying the game.  With runners at 2nd and 3rd with 1 out, Sophomore Tyler Reichenborn (Brookland Park, MN) scored both runners with 1 swing, launching a double into the left center gap and pushing the score to the final 4-2.  Winn would come in and earn his 5th Save of the season.

Redshirt-Sophomore Sean Chandler (Bellevue, NE) shined in Game 3 as the Reivers won 3-0.  Chandler spread 1 hit, 1 walk, and 1 hit batsman across his 7-inning complete game to seal the deal and win the regular season for Iowa Western.  He finished the day with 10ks and a runner never getting beyond 2nd base.  Reichenborn mashed his 4th Homerun of the season as he went 2-3 while Sullivan went 4-4 with 2 2Bs and an RBI.

Indian Hills jumped out to an early 2-0 lead before Iowa Western put up 3 runs in the top of the 5th to seal the deal for the series sweep with a 3-2 final in Game 4.  Redshirt-Freshman Jayden Kruse picked up the win throwing 1.2 innings of relief before hading the ball to Breyden Eckhout where he picked up his 1st Save of the season.  Gibson Krzeminski (RS/FR, Tecumseh, ONT, Can) started off the 5th getting on base via an error and following a 2-out walk to Sweeny, Hyland drove in the first run with and RBI single.  Tanner Holen (SO, Manhattan, KS) then hit a double down the RF line scoring Sweeny from 2nd to tie the game before an error allowed Hyland to score, putting the Reivers on top!  Holen and Hyland finished the day with both going 2-4.

Iowa Western is back in action on Wednesday, april 25th as they host Southeast (NE) for 1-9 inning game starting at 2pm.
