Reivers Sweep Southwestern, Move to 12-0 in ICCAC

 

Iowa Western makes it 3 straight conference sweeps as it moves to 12-0 after a 4-game series with Southwestern.

Game 1 saw the Reivers rattle off 14 unanswered runs as Iowa Western won the game 14-1 in 5-innings.  Sophomore Tyler Reichenborn (Brookland Park, MN) lead the offense going 3-4 with 2 3Bs, 3 RBIs, and 2 Runs.  Kobe Hyland (SO, Spruce Grove, ALB, Can) added 3 hits of his own going 3-3 with 3 Runs and an RBI.  Sean Chandler (RS/SO, Bellevue, NE) went the distance in the 5-inning game striking out 7 to earn his 6th win of the season.

In Game 2, the Reivers got out to a 3-0 lead before Southwestern added 2 runs of their own in the top of the 4th.  Iowa Western added a run in their half of the 4th and 2 more in the 5th to make it a 6-2 final.  Marius Balandis (FR, Lockport, IL) earned the win throwing 4 innings before Cole Albers (FR, Brookland Park, MN) and Breyden Eckhout (SO, Amherst, NE) combined for the final 3 innings.  Ronald Sweeny III (FR, Woodbury, MN) went 2-2 with 2 Runs and a HBP while Ross Indlecoffer (FR, Vadnais Heights, MN) went 1-2 with a 3B, and 2 RBIs.

The Reivers laced 13 hits in the 11-1 (5-inning) Game 3 victory.  Freshman Mason Speirs (Westminster, CO) went 3-4 with a 2B and an RBI.  Gregory Bennett (FR, Peosta, IL) went 2-2 with a 2B, SB, BB, 2 RBIs, and 2 Runs Scored.  Gibson Krzeminski (RS/FR, Tecumseh, ONT, Can) added 3 Runs Scored going 1-1 with a 2B and 2 BBs.  Sophomore Keaton Winn (Ollia, IA) grabbed his 3rd Win of the season throwing 4 innings and striking out 9.  Jordan Bonk (FR, Victoria, MN) finished the game throwing the final inning striking out 2.

Iowa Western completed the sweep with a 10-0 victory in Game 4.  Freshman Isaiah Peterson (Lincoln, NE) went 2-3 with a 2B, a SB, and 2 Runs Scored while Sophomore John Hawk (McClleland, IA) went 1-4 with a 2-RBI 3B.  Red-Shirt Freshman Jayden Kruse (North Platte, NE) picked up his 4th Win of the season throwing 3 innings without giving up a hit before Sophomore Indigo Diaz (Vancouver, BC, Can) shut the door in the final 2 innings.  Kruse and Diaz combined for 9 Ks.

The Reivers are back in action as they travel to Centerville, IA to face off against Indian Hills with Saturday's DH starting at 2pm and Sunday's starting at Noon.
