The Reiver pitching staff continued its 2018 dominance allowing 1 run and 4 his across 12 innings as Iowa Western wins both games against DCTC on Wednesday.
In Game 1, Jonny McIntyre (FR, Wichita, KS) got the start throwing 2 innings and facing 6 hitters getting his first college win. Mason Speirs (FR, Westminster, CO) led the offense going 3-3 with 3 runs scored. Gregory Bennett (FR, Pesota, IA) mashed his second Homerun of the year with a 3-run shot to left in the bottom of the 4th. Bennett finished the game with 4 RBIs going 1-3. The Reivers won Game 1 10-0 in 5-innings.
Game 2, the Reivers pitching staff struck out 7 giving up 3 hits. Freshman Jacob Gilbert (Ankeny, IA) picked up the win throwing 2 perfect innings to start the game. Speirs added to his day going 2-3 in Game 2 while Gibson Krzeminski (RS/FR, Tecumseh, ONT, Can) went 2-3 with a 2B, a 3B, and RBI, and 2 runs scored. Iowa Western won Game 2 by a score of 5-1.
