Home Domination Continues for Reivers in ICCAC Play

Council Bluffs, Iowa

Iowa Western wasted little time flexing their muscles Sunday at Reiver Arena.  After visiting Southeastern hung with the Reivers for the first several points of set one, IWCC raced to a three-game sweep, 25-16, 25-11, 25-20.

Leah Palensky led the team defensively with 12 digs, while fellow back-rower Lauren Walenz added eight while IWCC held the Blackhawks to a hitting percentage of -.051.  Yadhira Anchante helped lead the Reiver attack with 18 assists, setting up Maike Bertens for a team-leading eight kills in a balanced attack that hit .217 for the match.

Southeastern (5-7, 5-7) allowed seven Reivers aces and were out of system much of the match.  IWCC (11-3, 6-0) remained unbeaten in conference play and undefeated at home.

Next on the schedule for IWCC, the Reivers hit the road to face Marshalltown.  The first meeting between the two teams was canceled due to Covid-19 concerns with the Tigers' program.  You can find the link to view the game here.
