Lucky Number Seven; Reivers Finish Off Division-II #5 DMACC on the Road

Boone, Iowa

Nearly a week and a half layoff for Reivers Volleyball had the NJCAA's 7th ranked team itching to get back on the court.  Conference matches with Marshalltown and Hawkeye were canceled in between IWCC's last outing against Mineral Area and Wednesday night's clash with Des Moines Area on the road.

A pair of ranked opponents went to work as DMACC (#5 NJCAA D-II) and Iowa Western (#7 NJCAA D-1) squared off with both squads starting slowly.  IWCC warmed up enough to win sets one and two, 25-23 and 25-19.

The Bears wouldn't go away quietly, however, rallying back to win the third set 25-23 to set off a wild celebration from the DMACC bench.

Head Coach Alicia Williams's crew took notice and locked down in set number four, surging to a huge lead before winning 25-17 for the final 3-1 margin.

"We were really inconsistent with our feet tonight in terms of passing and that really determined the rest of our play tonight," said Head Coach Alicia Williams. "Once we got our feet moving and our passes to Yadhira (Anchante), our offense took care of business and we were able to find success."

DMACC fell to 9-3 overall with an identical conference record, while the Reivers won their 10th match of the season and remain the lone undefeated in the ICCAC standings at 5-0.

Next on the schedule for IWCC, the Reivers return home to face Southeastern at 1:00 pm inside Reiver Arena.  That match can be seen on the RSN with Jake Ryan and former Reiver Kaci Hohenthaner on the call.  A limited amount of fans will be permitted to the match on a pass list basis only.  The limited fans policy will be reviewed again on March 1st by the ICCAC Athletic Directors.
