Road Warrior Reivers Sweep Indian Hills

Ottumwa, Iowa

After being tested in northeast Colorado against the #2, #3, #9, and #11 teams in the nation over the weekend, it was right back to work for Reivers Volleyball.

The Reivers (4-3) faced ICCAC rival, #14 Indian Hills (0-2) at the Hellyer Center in Ottumwa Tuesday night.  The two teams split regular season conference champion honors last season, with both earning a trip to the NJCAA National Tournament.

Midway through a neck and neck first set, IWCC took control.  Iremnur Elmas spurred the Reivers to a 25-21 win from the service line before IW jumped on the Warriors in both sets two and three to win the match with little drama.

"Indian Hills was playing only their second match of the season and you could see their lack of match experience when we jumped on a few of the free balls for easy points," said Head Coach Alicia Williams, "Elaina Bohnet played really well and dug some good some balls, while Irem continued to play well with 10 kills and we had good parity across the board after that.  I expect it to be a much different match when we finish the regular season against them in March."

Elmas finished as the kills leader for IW, while Emily Knight and Maike Bertens finished with eight and Delaney Esterling and Elenoa Sing finished with seven.

Next up for the Reivers is a trip to West Plains, Missouri, a frequent former host of the NJCAA National Tourney.  The Reivers and the Grizzlies face off at 12:30 Friday afternoon.
