Sharks Attack, Send Reivers to Bottom of Bracket

HUTCHINSON, KANSAS

A familiar foe, unfortunately, a familiar result.

The 10th seeded Reivers cruised to victory early in day one of the NJCAA National Tournament setting up a match-up with tournament rival Miami-Dade in the tourney's quarterfinals.

The Sharks and the Reivers met in arguably the best match of 2018's tournament, a come from behind victory that propelled Miami-Dade into the tournament's championship game.  Two seasons prior, Miami-Dade topped Iowa Western for the NJCAA D-1 Championship.

On Thursday night, things looked promising as the Reivers took a 25-21 opening set win.  Sophomore Kortlyn Henderson, as she has done much of the season, put the Reivers on her back, hitting an impressive .452 for the match as a whole.  Freshman Reka Kotorman also added 44 of the team's 46 match assists.  The impressive individual stats weren't enough, however, as Miami-Dade rallied for a decisive set two victory and held the Reivers off in sets three and four.  The Reivers hit only .219 for the match, while the Sharks hit at a clip nearly 100 points higher.

The loss drops the Reivers into the bottom side of the bracket where they'll meet Otero, a round one winner over ICCAC rival Indian Hills, at 2:30 p.m.
