Dominant Opening Round Win Sends Reivers Swimming with the Sharks

HUTCHINSON, KANSAS

A slide for Reiver Volleyball to the 10th overall seed at the NJCAA National Tourney was bad news for Odessa College.

The Reivers (29-9), Top 10 in the polls for much of the year and Region XI co-champion, cruised by the Wranglers (31-2) in early round action at the Hutchinson Sports Center.

Iowa Western finished the match hitting at .278, compared to Odessa's .146 clip that included 23 hitting errors and nine service errors.

Sophomore Kortlyn Henderson led the charge for the Reivers, producing 19 kills in 32 chances for a .344 pace, while the Reivers backline produced three players with double-digit digs, led by freshman Leah Palensky with 12.

Iowa Western now moves on to face 2nd seeded Miami-Dade (27-2) who picked up a first-round win over Gadsden State.  That match is scheduled to begin at 5:30 central time.
