Reivers Continue Road Win Streak in Great Bend

 

GREAT BEND, KANSAS

 

Reiver Volleyball continued their recent hot streak on Saturday, grabbing a pair of straight set victories at the Barton Classic.  The Reivers topped Labette CC (25-5, 25-14 and 25-17) and Pratt CC (25-19, 25-15 and 25-15).

 

In the first match against the Cardinals of LCC, Kennedy Drewis hit an impressive clip of .632 scoring 14 kills on 19 attempts. Kortlyn Henderson locked in 9 kills with no errors on 15 attempts (.600) to help carry the Reivers to the sweep. On the back court, Bryn Stanberry and Lauren Walenz combined 22 digs. While Evaggelia Athanasiadou and Daria de Caravalho Peixe teamed up to post 6 block assists.

 

The domination continued later in the day when the Reivers faced Pratt.  Iowa Western came out firing on all cylinders and ready to go.  The Reivers held the Beavers of Pratt under 20 points in each set.  Henderson (10) and Genesis Sheridan (4), each were unstoppable as they hit .500.  Reka Kotorman paced the team defensively, picking up 9 digs and dishing out 34 assists. Drewis and Gracie Teeter covered the net by setting up 7 total blocks.

 

The wins increased the Reivers their winning streak to 11 and their overall record of 18-5.

 

This weekend, the Reivers will finally return home, hosting the Reiver Festival. Nationally ranked Panola, Seward County and NMMI are just of the few teams that will invade Reiver Arena this weekend.
