Tough Trip to Colorado Nets Reivers Single Victory

STERLING, COLORADO

After a 1-1 start to the Northeastern Invite, an early morning tilt with 6th ranked Snow College out of Utah awaited Iowa Western Volleyball.  The Reivers started off strong, taking set 1, but the Badgers adjusted to sweep the ensuing three sets (25-20, 16-25, 23-25, and 17-25). Kortlyn Henderson continued her strong weekend, leading the team again offensively with 13 kills.  Kelsey Havel chipped in 8 and was also a force on the back row, leading the squad in digs with 15 and scoring five service aces. Réka Kotormán tallied 32 assists while picking up six digs.

The tournament rounded out for the Reivers as they faced the Eagles of Utah State University-Eastern.  USU-E came out on fire and the Reivers couldn't find an answer for the Eagle attack, dropping the match in three sets (21-25, 28-30 and 21-25).  Sophomore Libero Bryn Stansberry defended the backcourt with 15 digs while freshman Leah Palensky tallied 12 of her own.  Henderson continued her consistency, again leading the squad with 15 kills while Genesis Sheridan and Havel scored 8 apiece.

The Reivers will enter Region XI play at Marshalltown on Wednesday night, at 7-5 overall.
