Reivers Race Into History, Win NJCAA Indoor National Championship!

Pittsburg, Kansas

Reivers Indoor Track & Field grabbed the program's first National Championship as a team, with the Women's squad racing to a win in the final event of the meet to clinch the 2021 NJCAA National Title inside the Robert W. Plaster Center at Pittsburg State University.  Iowa Western finished with a team total of 117 points, topping perennial power South Plains for the title by nine points.

The competition was close throughout the meet with Head Coach Doug Marshall's squad leading SPC by just five points after day one.  The battle for the title was neck-and-neck throughout the meet's final day with the Reivers lead down to four points heading into the final event: the 4x400-meter relay. Iowa Western clinched the title by winning the event with a time of 3:44.75, setting off an electric celebration with both the men's and women's squads waiting at the finish line.

Nickisha Pryce won the individual title in the 400m, Alliyah McNeil won the title in the High Jump, and each of them grabbed another medal as they won the 4x400m relay along with Dyandra Gray and Tirecia Walcott.  The Reivers added three more National Titles when Faith Linga took home the top spot in the 3000m, 5000m, and the Mile to add to her career National Championship count which now stands at seven individual titles over the last two seasons.

The team returned to campus on Saturday night, receiving a police escort back to campus where a raucous crowd of Reiver fans greeted them outside of Reiver Arena.
