Women's Track & Field Wins First ICCAC Indoor Championship!

Warrensburg, Missouri

For the first time in program history, the Iowa Western Women's Track & Field team are champions of the ICCAC.

Iowa Western dominated the field, outdistancing themselves from second-place by 151 points in the final standings.

"I was so proud of the way all of our athletes stepped up in so many different ways." Said Head Coach Doug Marshall, "Our women were amazing, they put together their best performance of the year at the right time, breaking four Region XI records four school records so it was a great weekend!"

Nickisha Pryce took first in the 200 and 400 meters, setting the Region XI record in both events.  Her times of 23.71 and 55.07 rank as the top times in the nation this season.  

Dyandra Gray won the 60-meter hurdles with a meet and school record of 8.48 seconds.  She now stands in 2nd place in the nation.

Faith Linga took the title in the 5000 meters, while the Reivers also broke the tape in the 4x400 relay (Tirecia Walcott, Alliyah McNeil, Gray, Pryce) and the Distance Medley Relay (Linga, Blayne Lachance, Monique Remy, Jadyn Miller).

IWCC also finished 1-2 in the long jump (Victory George, Sanique Rose) and the pole vault (Lachance, Morgan Harwin), while George also took 1st in the triple jump and McNeil won the high jump with a meet and school record of 1.70 meters (5'7").  That marks stands as tops in the nation this season.

Shania Parkinson bested Victoria Adu of Iowa Central to win the shot put by nearly two feet.

Terresha Walcott finished as runner-up in the 60-meter dash but set a school record in the process with a time of 7.48 seconds, also good for fourth in the National rankings.

Overall the women scored 238 total points to clinch the crown, while Iowa Central and Indian Hills rounded out the top two spots.

Marshall added, "A big thank you to my coaching staff, they had our athletes prepared and also to our amazing training room staff who continue to work miracles for our athletes and our program. We have more work to put in but we are excited to compete at nationals in two weeks."

Next up for the team are the NJCAA Indoor National Championships in Pittsburg, Kansas on March 5th and 6th.
