Reivers Add Nine to National Qualifying List; George Sets School Record in Women's Triple Jump

Maryville, Missouri

Victory George set a new IWCC record in the triple jump and the Reivers qualified nine more student-athletes for NJCAA Indoor Nationals over the weekend at the Northwest Open.

For the second straight meet, Coach Doug Marshall's squad took residence at the Hughes Fieldhouse on the campus of Northwest Missouri State University.

George topped Kellyann James' 2016 record of 11.55m with a meet winning mark of 11.83m.  Not only is that the top mark in IWCC program history, but also leads the NJCAA so far this spring.

The Reivers also took the top spot in the men's 600m (DeAirus Clerveaux, 1:13.18), the women's and men's 60mh (Dyandra Gray, 8.91 and Emmanuel Niang 8.16), and women's long jump (Victory George, 5.74m)

"I'm happy with where we are at after two weeks of competition, but we are far from where we need to be," Reivers Head Coach Marshall said, adding, "There's a lot that we can accomplish this year, but it's important we don't get comfortable and continue to get better each week."

The Reivers will split their squad this week with some returning to Maryville to compete in the Herschel Neil Invite and another group heading to Kansas where they'll face competition at the Washburn Open in Topeka.
