Indoor Season Launches for Reivers Track & Field

Maryville, Missouri

The Indoor Track & Field season got underway over the weekend for IWCC as the Reivers raced at the Mel Tjeersdma Classic at Northwest Missouri State in Maryville.

IWCC qualified seven student-athletes for Nationals including three top finishes.  Yonas Mogos (mile), Mohussin Abakar (mile), and Aliyah McNeil (high jump) all rank number one in the nation after their first weekend showings.

"I was very proud of how we competed, but more importantly how everyone pushed each other throughout the meet." Head Coach Doug Marshall said, "This was our first competition in over eight months for our sophomores and over a year for our freshman. We still have a lot of work to do and a lot of improvements to make but this group is determined and hungry and it showed today."

Coach Marshall and his staff could have qualified themselves for nationals with the hurdles that they have overcome, not only getting the Reivers ready for competition but also ensuring they've met the stringent COVID-19 protocols in place for indoor competitions.

IWCC will race the next two weekends in Maryville at Hughes Fieldhouse, readying for Indoor Nationals the first weekend of March.
