How It Happened: The Reivers were able to control the pace of the game by dominating possession throughout most of the match, though the Cavaliers were able to get a few quality looks in the first half. However, neither team took advantage in the first half as the score was 0-0 at halftime.

After the break, the Cavaliers broke the deadlock early, beating freshman goalkeeper Judit Gonzalez in the 48th minute. The Reivers continued to press and dominate the chances created and were rewarded in the 71st minute when captain Moriah Lucas was brought down in the box. Freshman Lina Jaime stepped up and converted the ensuing penalty kick to even up the score. The Reivers created a number of chances in the final minutes, but were unable to convert. The first overtime frame saw the Reivers on the front foot dominating possession, but unable to finish the Cavaliers off. The lack of a finish would come back tio haunt the in the 2OT as Johnson County was allowed to get a cross off in to the area that a Cavalier forward was able to deflect in the the Reiver goal.

Notes & Numbers: Iowa Western drops to 10-4-0. The late season loss was the Reivers first loss in October since 2015.

Quotes: Coach Adam Sanchez: "I thought we played well, but against a good team, it wasn't enough. The fight from the group today was good, but just wasn't enough and I think that sums up this afternoon. We'll need to go back, reassess, make some adjustments and figure out a way to win these matches where I think we deserve more out of the game with how we play. The quality is there, but we lack a little bit of that ruthlessness that we've had in the past."
