Reivers Compete in NCAA DI Event
The Women's golf team recently competed in the Big O tournament played at Oak Hills Country Club hosted by Creighton University & University of Omaha. The tournament was made up of NCAA DI golf teams and was some great competition to test the Reivers. The Reivers picked up a 6th place finish, while Olivia Holyoak Church stood out once again.
Day 1 the women were faced with playing 36 holes. Round 1 wasn't the best of rounds as they shot a team score of 334, 46 strokes over par. Church fired a round of 76 and found herself in the top 5 individually. Round 2 the women settled down and scored a 321, Church fired another round of 76 while Jennifer Cho and Beatriz Pineiro chipped in a round of 80.
Day 3 Pinheiro fired a round of 74, which was the second lowest round for all players across all 3 rounds. Church finished the tournament tied for 6th place, just outside the top 5. Pinheiro 3rd round score helped her finish tied in 17th place.
"We need to get all 6 players playing at a high level in order to compete," Said Head Coach Matt Robinson. "It was great to see Olivia and Bea (in their last 2 rounds) play great golf. But to compete, like I know we can, we need everyone to contribute."
The Reivers have another quick turnaround and will compete in Barton Invitational in Junction City, KS Oct 7th, and 8th. This event will wrap up the Women's Fall schedule for the year.
