Women Open Up With a Runner-Up Finish
The Reiver women opened up the new season with a runner-up finish at Sand Creek Station hosted by Tabor College. Having to replace the top 3 scorers from last season's squad, the women stepped up and produced some good results.
Day 1 the women were thrown into competition right away and having to play 36 holes in one day. Round 1 produced a score of 323 to finish in 2nd place. Led by freshman Olivia Holyoak-Church with a score of 78 and followed by sophomore Lauren Brown with a 79. Round 2 brought better results as a team with a round of 312. Brown had a score of 76. She was helped by freshman Jennifer Cho-77 and sophomore Beatriz Pinheiro-78.
Day 2 and the final round, Holyoak-Church had the low round for the tournament for the Reivers with a 74. And once again Brown chipped in with a score of-77.
"It was a good start for the year," said Head Coach Matt Robinson. " I saw a lot of good things happen and things we need to continue to work on. Rounds 2 & 3 we had the lowest round as a team score for the tournament. The girls gained some confidence these last 2 weeks."
The women will take a week off before competing at the University of Kearney Invite.
