Bradley Wins Reivers First Individual Tournament Title at Golden Eagle Invite

Rockford, Illinois

The men's and women's bowling teams hit the road for their longest regular-season trip of the year for the Golden Eagle Invite hosted by Rock Valley Junior College.  Originally a two-day event, the event was sliced to a single-day tournament when host Rock Valley was unable to compete due to their institution's Covid-19 policy.

The event proceeded with five traditional team games with the final total pin count ranking the teams.

On the women's side, Shalee Bradley continued her strong sophomore campaign by claiming the first Women's individual title in program history.  Bradley clinched the historical victory with a 256 in the deciding fifth game to take the lead and the title with a total score of 1011.  It was her third all-tournament team appearance of the season and fifth overall as a Reiver.  Overall the women took 3rd in the closely contested event.

The men continued their momentum from the week before, starting and finishing strong.  The team never dipped below second place on the day, with the highlight coming after game three when the Reivers took a 48-point lead on NCBCA #1, Wisconsin-Whitewater.  The lead was short-lived as Whitewater battled back to take the title over the Reivers in the 10 team field.

"The teams are really starting to work as one unit, players are understanding what the lanes are telling them and what the moves are a lot faster than just a month ago," said Head Coach Chad Goodwin.  "It gives everyone confidence, which in this sport is vitally important."

Individually for the men, it was Reece Kelly leading the way with a second-place finish. The freshman from Gretna, Nebraska grabbed his second all-tournament team appearance of the season.

Next up is the Kohawk Invitational for another single-day event.  The start time is set for 9:30 am.

With this week's all-tournament team placements, the Reivers now have nine all-tournament appearances on the season.
