Reivers Bowling Opens Season at Mustang Invite

SIOUX CITY, IA

The Reiver Men's and Women's teams opened up their championship seasons in Sioux City over the weekend, just shy of four months after the original start date.

Both squads went to work at the Mustang Invite hosted by Morningside College, with Covid protocols visible throughout the event, including a longer one day format as opposed to the standard two-day contests.

Everyone on both sides was excited to get started as the Reiver women turned in a fifth-place finish at the event.  The team was led by sophomore Shalee Bradley who turned in her 3rd all-tournament of her Reiver career.  Bradley averaged 202 for the four-game block, including a high game of 243.

On the men's side, it was newcomer Reece Kelly who averaged 213 as he placed 2nd  overall in his first collegiate event. Sophomore Tim Lincoln also had a good day finishing 9th with a 783 over the four games.

The Reivers started well in the baker portion of the event, finding themselves in 3rd after shooting a 266 in game 7 to put the team just 23 pins behind eventual winner, Hastings College.  The Reivers would show some inexperience down the stretch, ultimately leaving an overall finish of 4th, but the team showed promise.

Next up for the team, the Bronco Bash, a two-day event hosted by Hastings College.

Notes: of the 16 total Reivers to compete, 11 made their competitive debuts, with 6 and 5 freshman on the women and men roster respectively.
