COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa - Iowa Western Women's Basketball extended their winning streak to 20 games behind a triple-double from second-year guard McKenna Minter.
The Lincoln, NE native poured in 26 points to lead the team while dishing out 10 assists and grabbing 10 rebounds in a 79-63 victory over North Iowa Area Community College.
The Reivers got out to a quick start in the first quarter behind 8 points from both Minter and freshman DaNiya Warren-McClure, the Trojans however, took a one-point lead after the first 10 minutes of play. The game would go back and forth throughout the second quarter with NIACC's Madison Hillman dominating inside the paint, scoring 23 points in the paint during the first half while grabbing 12 rebounds, five of which were on the offensive glass, to tie the game at 37 at the break.
Iowa Western would pull away in the third quarter, out-scoring the Trojans 25-18 with the visitors missing 10 free throws in the quarter. The Reivers would put the game away in the final period with freshman guard Alindria Dudley finding her way to the hoop, scoring eight points in the paint, matching the Trojan's entire team scoring for the quarter. The Reivers took the game and swept the season series, 79-63.
Along with Minter's triple-double, freshman guard Shannon Niles added 19 points and 10 rebounds, while NIACC's Hillman finished her day with a career-high 35 points and 20 rebounds. Minter moves into 2nd in the NJCAA for assists with 133 dimes this season while recording her 10th double-double this season.
Iowa Western hosts Southeastern Community College on Wednesday, February 7th, and with a win they will set the school record winning streak that was set in 2014-15.
