Council Bluffs, IA- The Iowa Western women's basketball is off to a 2-0 start since returning from winter break, defeating the Iowa Central Tritons 76-56.
Team play and ball movement was key in the victory as four Reivers were in double figures for scoring. Freshman Dustie Obah had a standout performance, setting a career-high 18 points, shooting an astounding 8-9 from the field and grabbing 5 boards. Freshman Hayley Berfield also had another sharpshooting game, scoring 17 points. Sommer Blakemore also added 13 points, shooting 3-5 from the field and 2-3 from beyond the arc, and 5-6 from the charity stripe. Sophomore Ladun Akako contributed 12 points and 7 rebounds.
The Reivers improve to 9-8 on the season and will travel west to play Lamar Community College on Tuesday, January 7. Tip-off is set for 6:00 pm CST.
