COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA - Sophomore forward Miya Bull scored 11 points and pulled down a season-high 12 rebounds in a rout over Southwestern Community College (6-7) 78-36 on Tuesday inside Reiver Arena.
The Reivers (13-4) took their sixth straight win vs. the Spartans including 2-0 in 2018. Iowa Western scored 10 unanswered points in the opening quarter as they ran to a 23-5 lead. Zheniah Jackson connected on two shots from beyond the arc to spark the run.
After a back and forth second quarter, the Reivers dominated the second half outscoring Southwestern 40-16. The inside presence of Iowa Western proved to be a deciding factor in the match-up, with Jazza Johns and Kiara Dallmann both contributing 10 points and Christelle Nyuachi netting eight points. Miya Bull's relentless attack on the offensive glass charged the team to out-rebound the opponent 50-19.
Southwestern had two players in double figures with T'Keyah Stapleton (13) and Jasmine Aviles (10). The Reivers were lead in scoring for the second straight game by Naomie Alnatas who poured in 12. Iowa Western shot 51.5% from the field on 34-of-66 shots while Southwestern shot just 23.6% on 13-of-55 shots from the field.
