Reivers Linga Takes Top Spot at Woody Greeno Invite, Kiptoo Finishes Fifth

ASHLAND, NEBRASKA

Freshman Faith Linga took the top spot in the Women's race, while fellow underclassman Shawn Kiptoo took fifth on the Men's side as the Reivers raced strong at the Woody Greeno Cross Country Invitational in Ashland, Nebraska.  The event, hosted by the University of Nebraska and Nebraska-Wesleyan University was held at Mahoney State Park for the first time in the event's history.

Linga, a runner-up finisher in her first event, topped Abby Riperda from South Dakota by nearly 7.5 seconds to avenge her earlier defeat at the Augustana Twilight Meet.  Overall, the Reiver Women finished 12th in the Women's standings, with Emmy Jepkemei the next Reiver to finish. behind Linga.

On the Men's side, Iowa Western placed 14th with Kiptoo's 24:48.7, just below the 5:00 mark on average per mile.

Next up for the Reivers, the teams will race in the Briar Cliff Invite in Sioux City on October 5th.
