Reivers Rally on the Road
The Iowa Western men's basketball survived a second half comeback by the Western Iowa Tech Comets on Saturday afternoon in Sioux City, coming away with a 80-71 victory. The Reivers controlled much of the first half and led by 11 at halftime. The Reivers would push the lead up to as many as 15 points in the second half, but the Comets went on a quick run to tighten things back up.
The Comets even took a brief 3-point lead with under 5 minutes to play. Daleron Thomas stepped up with some big baskets late in the game to help Iowa Western regain control. Champ Calamese found Nate Parras at the rim with under a minute remaining to extend the lead up to 7 points and put the game away.
Daleron Thomas led all scorers with 26 points. Muhammed Edunjobi had a good performance on both ends of the floor and finished with 15 points. Champ Calamese and DaCarter Coleman each scored in double figures with 11 and 10 respectively.
The Reivers are now 8-4 overall and 1-1 in the ICCAC. Iowa Western will hit the road for two more games next week with a Wednesday matchup at Iowa Lakes, and at Northeast CC on Saturday. The Reivers will finish the semester on Monday December 16th with a home matchup vs Southwestern CC.
