Noah Scott Throws Complete Game Shutout to Open Region Finals

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa - 4th-ranked Iowa Western Baseball cruised to a 10-0 victory in eight innings over Indian Hills (34-19) in game one of the ICCAC Region 11 Finals.

Freshman Pitcher Noah Scott (11-1) tossed a complete game shutout, scattering just five hits, while inducing 16 ground-ball outs throughout the afternoon.

The Reivers (49-7) kicked off the scoring after Kyle Hvidsten led off the 2nd inning with a towering triple into left field and ended up scoring on a wild pitch from the Warriors starting pitcher Jordan Scholl.  IWCC added three more runs in the third, sending all nine batters to the plate.  AJ Singer scoring a pair on a single after a walk from Nate Voss and a double by Josh Wakefield.

The Walks came back to haunt the Warrior pitching staff, who issued 11 free-passes, two intentionally, that led to four runs by the Reivers.  Iowa Western scored in six of the eight innings, plating two in the 4th, one in the 5th, a pair in the 7th and Reese Harmon ended the game on an RBI single to right field after Evan Saunders reached third base on an error by Indian Hills' right fielder JJ Dutton.

The Warriors only threat came in the 6th inning after back-to-back one-out singles from Cito Benividas and Zachari Pace but a pair ground-ball outs ended the frame, stranding runners on the corners.

First pitch for game two of the best-of-three series will be tomorrow at 6pm from Doc Ross Field.
