New Reiver Baseball Duo Shores Up 2020-21 Coaching Staff

Council Bluffs, IA

Iowa Western Baseball is pleased to announce two new additions to the Reivers Coaching Staff for 2020-2021.

Head Coach Marc Rardin welcomed Dan Wilcher and Mark Vaughn as the newest members of his staff this past week.

"We're excited to have Dan and Mark joining our program.  Both come from successful programs as players and are young in their coaching careers, but had outstanding recommendations as hard-working and loyal guys." Coach Rardin added, "Wilcher will help direct the strength and conditioning program while assisting with on-field coaching of infielders and hitters, while Vaughn will assist in the weight room in addition to working with outfielders and assisting Coach Herbst with off the field instruction of hitters."

Coach Wilcher comes to Council Bluffs after serving as a Graduate Assistant at Greenville University, while Coach Vaughn joins the Reivers after serving as an assistant with the Front Royal Cardinals of the Valley League.

As an assistant with the Panthers for the past two seasons, Wilcher worked in various areas of the program, including infield defense, hitting, and coordinating the baserunning instruction.  Coach Wilcher also oversaw the team's strength and conditioning program and assisted the recruiting coordinator for the team.  The Carlisle, Ohio native also served as a volunteer assistant at his alma mater, Huntington University, and earned a year of experience of coaching in the Coastal Plaines League for the Fayetteville Swampdogs in 2017. The Swampdogs claimed a first-half division championship in his season with the team.

A native of Salina, Kansas Coach Vaughn's collegiate coaching experience came with his alma mater, Arkansas Tech University after the completion of his playing career.  As a graduate assistant, he assisted in all aspects of the program including the team's community involvement, recruiting, and academic progress.

Both coaches will supervise the dorms in addition to their on the field duties with the varsity and grey squads.

The pair join Coach Rardin (19th season), Tyler Herbst (7th season), Dillon Napoleon, and Ben Powell as 'Team 47' gets set for another year of Reivers Baseball.
