The Iowa Western Softball team is headed back to the National Tournament for the fifth time in the last 45 years. The 21st-ranked Reivers survived a hard-fought Midwest District Championship series, edging Jefferson College 2-1 in the winner-take-all rubber game. Big Blue, 49-6, pushed across the decisive run in the sixth inning and held off a determined Vikings squad to punch its ticket to the “Natty.” For Head Coach Heidi Jordan, it marks her second trip to the National Tournament in just four seasons at the helm. Iowa Western now sets its sights on Oxford, Alabama, where the NJCAA National Tournament will be held May 25-30.

The Iowa Western Community College Wrestling teams are bringing home national glory after crowning two individual champions at the national tournament. Tony Palmer powered his way to the 197-pound National Championship on the men’s side, scoring an emphatic first-period pin to secure the title and cap off a run through the bracket. On the women’s side, Ayanda Fletcher delivered a commanding performance in the 145-pound championship match, blanking her opponent to claim the national title and give the Reivers another gold medal. The team results were just as impressive: Men’s Team: 10th place nationally with five All-Americans Women’s Team: 7th place nationally with seven All-Americans Between the two champions and a combined 12 All-Americans, the Reivers proved once again that Iowa Western Reivers athletics program continues to make its mark on the national stage.

The Reivers will dive into the NJCAA National Championships in Fort Pierce, Florida, with competition running Wednesday, March 4th through Saturday, March 7th. In just their second season of competition, Iowa Western is already swimming among the nation’s best. Both the men’s and women’s squads enter nationals with their sights set on podium finishes — a remarkable goal for such a young program. From early-morning practices to record-setting performances, the Reivers have built momentum all season long. Now, it’s time to see how Big Blue stacks up against the best in the country. The stage is set. The water’s ready. And the Reivers are prepared to make a splash.

In Memoriam: Iowa Western 2025 National Champions

The Iowa Western football team is once again on top of the college football world, winning the 2025 NJCAA Division I National Championship. The Reivers rallied to humble Hutchinson, 28–10, on a night filled with both triumph and emotion. For head coach Scott Strohmeier and his family, the championship carried special meaning, as Iowa Western claimed the title in memory of Emily Strohmeier, who passed away this past May. The Reivers close another stellar season at 12–1, capturing their third national championship in the last four years and the program’s fourth in 17 seasons.

The 12th-ranked Reivers storm out to a 17–8 lead, but it’s not how you start — it’s how you finish. Third-ranked Iowa Central battles back and flips the script, grinding out a 25–17 comeback win as the Tritons slip out of Reiver Country with the victory.

The Iowa Western Women’s Wrestling Team went head-to-head with rival Iowa Central in a back-and-forth battle. The Tritons ultimately outlasted the Reivers 28–24 in a true tug-of-war dual. Under first-year Head Coach Myranda Velazquez, the Reivers showed plenty of strength and promise in the early season matchup.

The second-ranked Reivers powered past No. 3 Tyler, 41–29, punching their ticket to the NJCAA Division I National Championship for the fifth straight season. Iowa Western now sets its sights on a familiar foe — top-ranked Hutchinson. The two heavyweights will collide for the third time in four years, renewing one of junior college football’s premier rivalries. The National Title Game is locked in for Wednesday, December 17th at 6:00 p.m. CST in Canyon, Texas.

Under new Head Coach Brayden Curry, the Reivers powered past an undermanned Ellsworth squad, scoring pin after pin in an emphatic season-opening statement. Big Blue broke open a tie game in the second half with back-to-back touchdowns — one from the offense and another from the defense.
