Reiver Women Returns To Their Winning Ways.

Reiver Women Returns To Their Winning Ways.

In a weather shortened tournament, the Reiver Women overcame strong winds and rain to claim first place 1st at the Bulldog Spring Invite hosted by Concordia University. Concordia hosted at Highland Golf Course in Lincoln, NE. What was forecasted as temperatures in the 60's and just cloudy turned out to be feel-like-temperatures in the low 40's with rain on and off all round.

The Women started off on the back 9, the most difficult of the 9 holes. Making the turn at +18 as a team and sitting in 3rd place, they went to work on their remaining round and went +9 to post a team score of +27 (315) to win by 10 strokes over Bellevue University.

"I was proud to see the team buckle down and play through tough conditions today," said Head Coach Matt Robinson. "Not everyday can be sunny with no wind. So, learning early this spring to play in these conditions will help us down the road."

The Reivers took advantage of the teams consistency with 3 players who tied for 4th place posting a score of 78 (Katie Graham, Seira Kubo and Madi Schlaepfer). Rounding out the team score was Luisa Gibson who also finished in the top 10.

Hoping for better weather, the team travels to Oklahoma City April 11th and 12th to compete in the Oklahoma City University invite. "We need to play in some tournaments where we are not wearing 3 layers of clothes. It will be some great competition with some high ranked Junior College teams playing. A good test to see where we are on the year and what we need to work on as we get closer to post season play, "said Coach Robinson.
