Women's Golf Team Qualifies for the National Championships

Keeping the streak going, the Reiver Womens golf team once again took the top honors at the Region XI Championships played at Otter Creek Golf Course April 24th & 25th. Making it 12 years in a row the Reivers outpaced thier competition by 61 strokes and placed all 5 players in the top 10. The team lead by 18 strokes after Day 1, led by Luisa Gibson's low round of 73 which put her in the lead by 9 strokes over fellow teammate Seira Kubo (82). Katie Schweers sat in 5th (84) while Maya Northcutt (85) and Holly Elliott (87) claimed the 7th and 9th spots.

Day 2 brought once again bad weather. With the tempurature hovering around 42 degrees at the start of the round and with sleet falling, the Reivers got off to a fast start and never looked back. This day, Kubo led the Reivers with a score of 74 while Schweers recorded her best round of the year firing a 76. Gibson ended the day with an 80 while Elliott (86) and Northcutt (87) rounded out the team scoring.

Final results showed the Reivers increase thier lead and finish with a 2 day team score of 640 follwed by Iowa Lakes CC 701, Des Moines CC at 704 and Northern Iowa CC with 768. Luisa took top honors follwed by Kubo at 2nd, Schweers at 3rd, Northcutt at 7 and Elliott tied for 9th. The women now prepare for the National Championships that will be played at Plantation Bay Golf Course in Ormond, FL May 10th thru the 13th.
