Reiver Women Golf Team Wraps up the Regular Season with a Strong Finish in Oklahoma

The Reiver Women continue to improve on the golf course with a strong finish at the Susie Maxwell Berning Invite hosted by Oklahoma City Univeristy in Oklahoma City, OK. The women got off to a great start on Day 1, when they fired their lowest score for the year (300). The women were tied for first place after Day 1 with the host school. The team was lead by Seira Kubo with a score of 73. While teammate Luisa Gibson was one shot behind (74). Holly Elliott and Maya Northcutt got into the action and shot thier first rounds in the 70's, both recording a round of 77. While Katie Schweers continued to break her career low round with a 82.

"I was extremly pleased with our first round scoring," said Assistant Caoch Matt Robinson. "Everything favored us this day. It was cold and windy, which we have been playing in all year. It took awhile for the teams down south to make thier adjustments to the conditions."

With the large field of 96 players and a shot gun start on Day 2, the play slowed down considerably. With this slow play the Women still were able to shot a 304. But it wasn't enough to stay in the lead. They finished in 4th place as a team which represents thier best finish in this tournement. Seira and Luisa continued thier solid play each shooting a 72. Kubo finished tied for 2nd over-all and Luisa tied for 4th. Elliott matched her day 1 score with a 77 (T19th) and Schweers continued break her career low of 81 (T50). Northcutt rounded out the team by finishing tied for 52nd.

The ladies now move their focus to the post-season and Region XI play when they tee it up April 24th and 25th in Ankeny, IA at Otter Creek Golf Course.
