Great Showing at the Concordia Bulldog Invite results in a 2nd Place Finish

The Reiver Women golf team had a strong showing in the Concordia Bulldog Invite this past Tuesday/Wednesday at Highlands Golf Course in Lincoln, NE. Once again the wether didn't cooperate and the women had to play in windy and raining conditions. Besides the conditions, they were able to finish the tournement in 2nd place behind Morningside College who is ranked 7th Nationally in NAIA. Day 1 Luisa Gibson got off to a great start and led the tournement with a score of 74 (+2) good enough to lead by 2 strokes. Seira Kubo (78) and Katie Schweers (83) also had great round.

"It was good to see those 3 play a solid round, " said Assistant Coach Matt Robinson. "It really set the tone for Day 2 and having a strong finish."

Day 2 brought rain and shifting wind directions. Even with these changes the Women were able to record thier low round of the season with a team score of 315. Once again Gibson and Kubo led the way with rounds of 77. Maya Northcutt turned in her best round of the season with a score of 80 and Holly Elliott rebounded to fire a 81. Schweers was consistant again with a 83.

"For all our girls to shoot great and close together on Day 2 in the condintions we had was very positive. We are close to peaking at the right time of the year when the National Championships is right around the corner." Said Robinson

The Team makes a quick turnaround and heads off to Oklahoma City, OK to participate in the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic hosted by Oklahoma City University. The tournement is loaded with 23 teams, with 4 Junior Colleges ranked in the top 10 in Nation (Iowa Western being ranked #7).
